The Compensation Fund Bursaries 2026 are officially open, providing comprehensive financial support to eligible South African students studying at recognised TVET Colleges, CET Colleges and Higher Education Institutions.
The Compensation Fund operates under the Department of Employment and Labour and supports workers affected by occupational injuries and diseases. Through this bursary scheme, the Fund helps beneficiaries and their dependants access higher education and skills development opportunities.

Who Qualifies for the Compensation Fund Bursary 2026?
The bursary supports two main groups:
1οΈβ£ COID Beneficiaries with Permanent Disablement (PWD)
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be unemployed and of working age
- Be registered COID beneficiaries with permanent disablement
- Be accepted at a recognised institution
- Intend to return to work or become self-employed
2οΈβ£ Dependants of COID Beneficiaries
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be aged 17β35 years
- Be dependants of permanently disabled COID beneficiaries or
- Be dependants of employees who died due to workplace injuries
- Be accepted at a recognised institution
Fields of Study Funded
Priority is given to high-demand qualifications, including:
- Accounting & Financial Science
- Actuarial Science
- Engineering
- Health & Clinical Sciences
- ICT
- Environmental Health
- Mathematics & Science Education
- Statistics & Data Science
- Marine & Maritime Studies
Advanced Diploma and Honours programmes (e.g., CTA, Actuarial Science, Chiropractic, Orthotist & Prosthetist at public universities) may also qualify.
What the Bursary Covers
Successful applicants receive:
β Tuition Fees
β Prescribed Study Materials
β Accommodation
β Monthly Stipend
Funding is awarded per academic year and renewed based on academic performance and availability of funds.
β If no response is received within two months after the closing date, consider the application unsuccessful.

For COID Beneficiaries:
- Certified ID copy
- COID pension/claim number
- Proof of disability
- Academic transcript (if applicable)
- Proof of institutional acceptance
- Tuition & study material quotations
- Proof of residence
For Dependants:
- Certified ID copy
- Parent/guardian ID or death certificate
- COID claim number
- Academic results/transcript
- Proof of acceptance
- Tuition & materials quotation
- Proof of residence
- Proof of income
- Pre-entry assessment (apprenticeships)

- Proof of acceptance from a public TVET College, CET College, or Higher Education Institution
- Full-time enrolment is generally required
- Part-time study may be considered for students with disabilities under exceptional circumstances
