The iSimangaliso Wetland Park Bursary Programme is open and ready to support students from local communities with funding plus academic and life-skills support.

💼 About iSimangaliso Wetland Park
iSimangaliso (meaning “miracle” in isiZulu) is South Africa’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park protects lakes, wetlands, forests, dunes, and rich wildlife—supporting conservation and community development. Since 2010, the bursary programme has helped 140+ students study fields linked to environmental protection and tourism.
🎁 What the Bursary Covers
Partial funding and support, including:
- 💻 Laptop + internet data
- 🚍 Travel to and from campus
- 🍽️ Meals and basic study supplies
Plus extra support:
- 📚 Academic tutoring
- 🧠 Counselling & mentorship
- 🛠️ Career skills workshops
- 🌍 Community volunteering during holidays
✅ Who Can Apply?
You must:
✔️ Be a South African citizen
✔️ Live in an iSimangaliso land-claimant community, uMkhanyakude District, or Sokhulu (Mfolozi Local Municipality)
✔️ Be starting 1st year in 2026
✔️ Study Conservation, Tourism, or a related field
✔️ Be accepted at UKZN, UniZulu, MUT, or DUT
✔️ Have applied for or received NSFAS
✔️ Show genuine interest in nature & environmental protection
