📌 Job Description

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a reliable and responsible Driver (Light Duty Vehicle) to join the team at False Bay Hospital. The successful candidate will provide transport services for medical supplies, staff, and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient delivery within the healthcare system.

✅ Minimum Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Valid Code B/EB/C1 driver’s licence
• Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP/IPDP)
• Relevant experience in a healthcare environment (recommended)
• Willingness to work overtime and standby duties

🧠 Required Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of the Government Motor Transport Handbook (2019)
• Good understanding of Cape Peninsula road networks
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility
• Excellent driving and safety awareness

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Transport staff, patients, medical equipment, medication, and documents
• Deliver blood samples and other critical healthcare items
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, cleaning, and maintenance
• Report vehicle defects and ensure roadworthiness
• Provide messenger and support services
• Ensure efficient and proper use of government vehicles
