Omnia’s Fertilizer Division is offering an exciting opportunity for young South Africans who want to build a practical and valuable career in mechanical fitting. The apprenticeship will take place in Sasolburg, Free State, where selected candidates will receive both theoretical training and hands-on workplace experience in a leading fertilizer manufacturing environment.

What the Training Includes

Successful applicants will:

  • Attend formal theory training at an accredited institution.
  • Gain practical experience working on machinery within the fertilizer plant.
  • Learn how to install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment.
  • Follow a structured training programme in line with CHIETA requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have one of the following:

Grade 12 with these subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • English
  • Mechanical Fitter Trade Theory

OR N3 Certificate with:

  • N3 Mathematics
  • N3 Engineering Science
  • N3 Engineering Drawing
  • N3 Mechanical Fitter Trade Theory

OR NCV Level 4 in Mechanical Trade Theory.

Learners currently completing these subjects are also encouraged to apply. No prior work experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

Apprentices will:

  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Work with tools and industrial machinery.
  • Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults.
  • Maintain records of completed tasks.
  • Follow safety and quality standards at all times.
