Eskom Artisan Electrical Job Description
Eskom is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Artisan Electrical within the Lines and Servitudes Department under the Southern Grid business unit in Bloemfontein.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing power line inspections, servitude maintenance, defect repairs, and restoration activities using approved tools, equipment, procedures, and techniques. The purpose of the role is to ensure optimal transmission line performance and a continuous, reliable electricity supply.
Key Responsibilities of the Artisan Electrical Position
- Perform power line inspections and servitude maintenance under supervision
- Carry out hardware defect repairs and assist with line operations
- Conduct power line fault investigations
- Assist with restoration activities during power line emergencies and outages
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Operate, inspect, and maintain tools and equipment
- Maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships

Minimum Requirements for Eskom Artisan Electrical Job
Required Qualifications:
- Trade Certificate in Electrical (Light Current or Heavy Current) at National Qualifications Framework Level 4 with 120 credits
Required Experience:
- A minimum of two years experience working on NTCSA network and discipline-related equipment, specifically in lines and servitudes
Skills and Competencies Required
Technical Knowledge:
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical engineering principles
- Understanding of lines and servitudes
- Knowledge of transmission networks
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to line work
- Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and hazardous substances
- Basic line component identification skills
- Knowledge of vegetation management
- Understanding of electrical theory principles
- ORHVS authorisation outcome two to take and hand over lines under supervision
- Level three maintenance competency authorisation
