Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is offering an opportunity for Dispensary Support staff to join its pharmacy division. The purpose of this role is to develop learners through structured workplace training and prepare them for registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.

Successful candidates will gain practical knowledge in dispensing, stock management, and patient service while completing the Basic Pharmacist Assistant course.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate
  • Pure Mathematics with a minimum of 50 percent
  • Life Sciences and or Physical Sciences with a minimum of 50 percent
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Strong communication and numerical skills

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Assist pharmacists with the dispensing of medication under supervision
  • Sell Schedule 1 medicines in accordance with regulations
  • Assist with the preparation and packaging of prescribed medication
  • Ensure accurate labelling and checking of prescriptions
  • Manage stock, including unpacking, organisation, and expiry date control
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the dispensary
  • Provide support to patients and handle queries professionally
  • Assist with medical aid scheme authorisations
  • Follow up on prescriptions and patient appointments

All duties must be performed in compliance with the regulations set by the South African Pharmacy Council.
