About the Role
The University of the Free State (UFS) is seeking Electrical Apprentices to join the Engineering Services team. This is a one-year contract position with the potential for extension, offering hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, installation, and repair across the Bloemfontein campus.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment across the campus.
- Learn and apply electrical codes and regulations under supervision.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot electrical issues.
- Work closely with senior Electricians to gain practical skills.
- Participate in training programs to improve technical knowledge.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Proficiently use hand tools and electrical equipment.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift equipment up to 23kg.
- Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Inherent Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate at NQF Level 4 (attach certified copy).
- Electrical Engineering qualification: N3, N4, N5, or N6 (attach certified copy/copies).
- Valid driver’s license (attach certified copy).

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
