📌 Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 10, AET Level 4, or equivalent qualification
- At least 1 year experience in a hospital environment (advantageous)
- Experience in food service industry will be an advantage
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
🍽️ Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, and serving meals for patients
- Ensuring correct portion control for normal and special dietary meals
- Preparing food for therapeutic and special diets
- Packing and distributing meals to hospital wards
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the food service unit
- Cleaning equipment, utensils, storage areas, and work surfaces
- Following infection prevention and control procedures
- Reporting faulty equipment and safety risks
- Supporting patient safety and complaint management processes
