The American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) is hiring a passionate and dedicated Learner Specific Pathway and Learning Support Teaching Partner to join its Pretoria Campus. Role Overview

This dual-role teaching position is split between two critical areas of student support:

  • 50% in the Learner Specific Pathway (LSP): A brand-new initiative focused on serving students with cognitive and developmental disabilities through individualized curriculum delivery. You’ll work one-on-one with students, assist with modifying content, and provide continuous academic and emotional support in collaboration with the Principal, Director of Student Support Services, and LSP teachers.
  • 50% in Learning Support or English Language Support: You’ll assist students who require additional academic help either in the general education classroom or in small group settings. Support will be guided by the Student Support Teachers to ensure each learner is met with the right tools and strategies for success.

You’ll also collaborate with other educators, participate in team meetings, and play a vital role in ensuring each student’s progress is closely monitored and celebrated.


Minimum Requirements

  • A valid teaching degree (specialization in Special Education is highly desirable)
  • Teaching experience in a school setting
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Strong computer literacy
  • A genuine interest in supporting students with learning challenges

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer academic and social support to identified students
  • Assist LSP and Support Services Teachers in educational planning and development
  • Reinforce learning in small groups or individual sessions
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to identify and implement effective strategies
  • Maintain consistent student performance records and notes
  • Prepare support materials as guided by teaching staff
  • Attend team meetings and professional development sessions
  • Participate in after-school activities and assigned supervision duties

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday – 188 days per school year
