Sportsman’s Warehouse, part of the Holdsport Group, is seeking a dynamic and passionate Financial Assistant to join their Head Office Finance Team in Cape Town CBD. This is a full-time permanent position for candidates who want to build a career in finance within the retail sector.

The role requires someone analytical, deadline-driven, and able to work accurately in a fast-paced retail finance environment.

Responsibilities

As a Financial Assistant, you will:

Accurately prepare, record, and process accounting transactions
Review and investigate irregularities in financial records
Provide information and communicate effectively within the finance team
Apply accounting principles (debits and credits) to support departmental operations
Identify risk areas and saving opportunities
Assist in creating or improving reconciliations to produce accurate and efficient financial reports
Understand and follow retail finance and stock control procedures
Use initiative to support departmental goals

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and/or Accounting
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve
Understanding of accounting principles (debits and credits)
Computer literacy and competent Excel skills
Good communication skills for obtaining and providing information
Reliable transport to Cape Town CBD

Preferred Qualifications (Advantageous)

Certificate or Diploma in Accounting
3 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounting role
Background in finance or retail finance
