Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to provide excellent customer service while supporting daily yard operations. The General Assistant will ensure accurate loading of goods, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and assist with stock control to improve customer satisfaction and business efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Load customer vehicles, delivery trucks, and transfer trucks safely and accurately
• Ensure stock is correctly stacked, counted, and handled
• Assist with picking and preparing stock for transfers
• Report stock shortages and damaged goods
• Maintain cleanliness by sweeping and ensuring proper housekeeping
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Assist with bagging materials such as sand and stone
• Participate in regular stocktaking activities
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role (advantageous)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to count and manage stock accurately
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit with good stamina
• Ability to work under pressure
• Self-motivated and disciplined
