⚡ Programme Details

This apprenticeship combines theoretical learning and practical workplace training in heavy current electrical systems.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Structured technical training
  • Practical on-site experience
  • Mentorship from qualified electrical professionals
  • Exposure within a municipal energy environment

The programme aims to develop competent artisans who will contribute to delivering essential energy services within the Cape Town metropolitan area.


✅ Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following:

🔹 Option 1

  • NTC 3 Technical Qualification
    (Electrical Trade Theory, Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, or heavy current stream subject)
  • With Matric

🔹 Option 2

Technical Matric (Grade 12) including:

  • English
  • Electrical Trade Theory
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Science
  • One additional relevant subject

🔹 Option 3

  • NCV Level 4 Electrical (all 7 subjects completed)

🌟 Additional Requirements

  • Strong interest and passion for the Electrical Trade
  • Must reside within the City of Cape Town metropolitan area
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code C1 / old Code 10 is advantageous)
  • Must NOT have qualified in any trade before the programme begins
  • Must NOT hold a National S Diploma or any higher qualification

⚠ Medical Requirements

Applicants with medical conditions that may affect safe electrical work will not be considered. This includes:

  • Epilepsy
  • Colour blindness
  • Any condition that could compromise electrical safety
