Minimum Requirements

  • Willingness to commit to the full two-year programme.
  • South African citizenship.

Learnership Details

  • Duration: 2 years.
  • Agreement: Successful candidates will sign a two-year learnership agreement with Ilima Coal Company, effective from 26 September 2025.
  • The programme combines theoretical training with practical workplace experience, preparing participants to become qualified artisans in their chosen trade.

About Ilima Coal Company

  • Ilima Coal Mine (formerly Pembani Coal Carolina) is an opencast and underground coal mine owned by Pretorius Group of Companies (PGC).
  • Located approximately 3 km east of Carolina, Mpumalanga, north of the R38.
  • Acquired by PGC in 2016 from Pembani Coal Carolina (PCC).
  • Operates under a large mining right area, with phased development planned over 30 years.
