Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is hiring a Merchandiser for the Blue Route Mall store. This role is ideal for someone passionate about retail merchandising, stock management, and customer service. You will ensure shelves are fully stocked, displays are attractive, and customers receive excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to maximize sales.
- Ensure accurate and timely placement of stock from storeroom to shop floor.
- Monitor product expiry dates and rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out).
- Maintain complete product ranges on shelves at all times.
- Report low stock, damaged items, or expired products to management.
- Assist with inventory audits and stocktaking.
- Build, stock, and maintain merchandising displays according to store layout and planograms.
- Keep shelves organized, neatly labeled, and correctly priced.
- Assist customers with product queries and provide friendly service.
- Train and guide new staff as needed.
- Follow all Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months of retail experience (1 year advantageous)
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong English communication skills
- Presentable, trustworthy, and reliable
- Willing to work retail hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English + other language)
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
- Product and category expertise
- Ability to analyze stock reports (ZMORE)
- Ability to identify and report suspicious behaviour
Special Conditions of Employment
- Must be physically able to lift and move stock safely
- Reliable transport or reside near Blue Route Mall
- South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record
