Gaming Operations Learnership Opportunity in KwaZulu-Natal
Sun International is offering an exciting Gaming Operations Learnership Programme for unemployed South African youth at Sun Sibaya Casino.
This 12-month learnership provides participants with practical workplace experience in the gaming and casino industry, while also earning an NQF Level 4 qualification in Gaming Operations.
The programme is designed to help young people develop valuable skills in casino operations, customer service, and cash handling, improving their chances of employment in the hospitality and gaming sector.
About the Sun Sibaya Learnership Programme
The National Certificate in Gaming Operations Learnership aims to support South Africa’s skills development goals by giving unemployed youth access to accredited training and real workplace exposure.
Successful learners will receive:
- An NQF Level 4 accredited qualification
- Practical casino workplace experience
- Training in gaming operations and cashiering
- 12 months of structured learning and coaching
- Improved employment opportunities after completion
Participants will gain hands-on experience in a real casino environment while learning about gaming regulations, compliance, and customer service excellence.
Learnership Duties and Responsibilities
Learners selected for the programme will be trained to perform the following duties:
1. Floor and Machine Preparation
- Inspect gaming equipment before shifts begin
- Ensure slot machine areas are clean and operational
- Report equipment faults to supervisors
2. Customer Service
Learners will develop hospitality skills such as:
- Greeting guests professionally
- Providing excellent customer service
- Assisting guests on the casino floor
- Maintaining service standards
3. Slot Machine Clearing and Cash Handling
- Assist with slot machine clearing during counting days
- Support daily cash recording procedures
- Handle transactions accurately and responsibly
4. Data Capture and Documentation
- Capture operational data into company systems
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing
- Follow company reporting processes
5. Compliance and Risk Management
- Follow regulations set by the KwaZulu‑Natal Gambling Board
- Report suspicious activities
- Follow all gaming laws and internal procedures
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Educational Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- English passed
Legal Requirements
- Valid South African ID
- Must qualify for a gaming license from the KwaZulu‑Natal Gambling Board
Availability
Applicants must be willing to:
- Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Work in smoking and non-smoking environments
Physical Requirements
Applicants should be able to:
- Stand for long periods
- Move machines if required
- Perform operational tasks safely
