Looking to get into retail but don’t have any experience? The JumpStart programme by Mr Price Foundation is giving unemployed youth a chance to build real skills and gain in-store work experience. It’s not a guaranteed job, but it gives you something solid to put on your CV and helps you become more employable.
Here’s who can apply:
- You must have Matric / Grade 12
- Be 18 to 33 years old
- Must be unemployed and a South African citizen
- Have no criminal record
What do you get from it?
- Training to help you handle a retail job
- Work experience inside a retail store
- A certificate to add to your CV
- Basic life and workplace skills
It’s aimed at helping you get ready for entry-level retail jobs—like working as a cashier, shop assistant, or stock controller. A lot of people who go through JumpStart end up getting hired because they already understand how stores operate.
