Internship Details

Internship Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 certificate
- A three-year National Diploma or BCom Degree in one of the following fields:
- Financial Management
- Accounting
- Economics
- Finance (including Risk Management and/or Auditing)
- Must be unemployed with no prior work experience required
- Must be between 21 and 35 years old
- Must not have participated in any internship programme before
Programme Overview
The Municipal Finance Management Internship Programme (MFMIP) is a structured work experience and training initiative aimed at preparing graduates for a career in public sector finance.
The programme provides in-depth exposure to the operations of a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office, in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Act 56 of 2003.
It follows a structured sequence that builds on academic knowledge and may lead to a professional qualification in Municipal Finance Management, in accordance with the Municipal Minimum Competency Regulations (Gazette 29967 of June 2007).

- Implementation of GRAP and budget reforms
- Financial and performance reporting
- Change, risk, and project management
- Expenditure and revenue management
- Supply chain and procurement management
- Implementation of the MFMA
