About the ARPL Programme
The Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) is designed for individuals who already have years of practical trade experience but have not yet obtained formal certification. By joining the programme, participants will be assessed, trained, and certified as artisans in key trades that play a vital role in South Africa’s technical and industrial development.
Available Fields of Exposure
Successful candidates will be placed across five critical trades:
- Plumbers
- Bricklayers
- Carpenters
- Electricians
- Motor Mechanics

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify:
- Education: Minimum of Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience: At least three years of relevant work experience in one of the listed trades (must be confirmed with a service letter from a previous employer).
- Candidates must not have previously participated in a learnership, apprenticeship, or skills programme.
- Preference will be given to former Letaba TVET College students.
