The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is inviting suitably qualified applicants to apply for Cleaner positions (2 posts) within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services. These positions are based at Elsies River Community Health Centre and Delft Community Health Centre in the Western Cape.

This employment opportunity is suitable for individuals who have basic reading and writing skills as well as cleaning experience within a health facility environment.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Basic reading and writing skills
• Appropriate cleaning experience within a health facility

Inherent Requirements of the Job

Applicants must be willing and able to:

• Work twelve-hour shifts
• Work after hours, including night duty
• Work on weekends and public holidays
• Work overtime on short notice when required
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including the use of cleaning equipment
• Work at various Primary Health Care facilities within the Northern Tygerberg substructure when operationally required

Competencies and Skills

• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning materials
• Ability to maintain hygiene and safety standards

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be required to:

• Maintain a clean and hygienic environment to prevent the spread of infection
• Perform general cleaning duties, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, scrubbing, and mopping
• Ensure effective utilization of cleaning materials and equipment
• Clean and safely store all cleaning equipment after use
• Use cleaning agents correctly and manage stock responsibly, including basic stock control
• Maintain general hygiene and ensure a safe environment in accordance with standards and procedures
• Provide support to supervisors and colleagues when required
