About the Role

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a Security Officer (Grade B or higher) to join the team at Karl Bremer Hospital. This role is essential for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain quality prevention measures to ensure a safe workplace
• Control access and egress to all hospital areas
• Manage keys, parking, and security operations
• Conduct incident investigations and reporting
• Support supervisors by monitoring compliance of outsourced security officers
• Ensure adherence to security regulations, prescripts, and procedures

Requirements

• Qualifications: Junior Certificate (Grade 10 / STD 8) or equivalent
• Experience: Relevant experience as a Security Officer in a health facility
• Registration: Must be registered with PSIRA as a Security Officer Grade B or higher
• Skills:
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Report writing and conflict management
  • Group handling skills
  • Knowledge of security regulations and procedures
• Other:
  • Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence
  • Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime
  • Computer literate

Salary and Benefits

• Annual Salary: R163,680 – R192,810
• Benefits: 13th cheque, employer pension contribution, housing and medical aid allowance
