The Western Cape Mobility Department is inviting applications for the Student Cadet Traffic Officer Bursary Programme 2026. This is a 12-month full-time training opportunity that leads to a Further Education and Training Certificate in Road Traffic Law Enforcement.
Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend and professional training at the Gene Louw Traffic College in Brackenfell.

Worcester, Laingsburg, Beaufort West, Oudtshoorn, Brackenfell, Somerset West, Vredenburg, Vredendal, Caledon, Swellendam, Mossel Bay, George, and Knysna.
π Important Dates

π° Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of R5,000 during the training period (excluding meals and accommodation).
β Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
- Valid Code B (manual transmission) driverβs licence
- South African citizen with no criminal record
- Physically fit and medically cleared for strenuous activity
- Under the age of 35 years
- No visible tattoos or body piercings (except one earring per ear for females)
- Willing to undergo medical, fitness, psychological, and drug testing
π Key Responsibilities
As a Student Traffic Officer, you will:
- Enforce road traffic laws and transport regulations
- Conduct visible policing and crime prevention operations
- Assist with traffic control and public safety duties
- Perform administrative and operational tasks
- Work shifts, including weekends and 24/7 deployment when required

- Strong communication skills in at least two official Western Cape languages
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team
- Good interpersonal and public relations skills
- Discipline, confidence, and integrity
