Job Overview
AVBOB Mutual Society is recruiting a General Worker (Cleaner) for its Preparation Centre in Pretoria West. This role requires a responsible and hardworking individual who can maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in both office and specialised operational environments.
The position includes cleaning duties in standard office areas as well as sensitive facilities such as a mortuary and Aquamation Centre, requiring strict adherence to hygiene protocols and professional conduct.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain floors, furniture, and office surfaces using approved cleaning products
- Sanitize bathrooms, refill supplies, and ensure hygienic conditions
- Empty bins and dispose of waste responsibly
- Clean and disinfect mortuary areas according to strict hygiene schedules
- Maintain cold room hygiene and record temperature readings three times daily
- Clean and sterilize stretchers and related equipment
- Refill and manage hygiene and sterilisation solutions
- Clean Aquamation facility areas and ensure proper chemical handling and disposal
- Prepare and hand over medical waste to approved service providers
- Provide refreshments to visitors and maintain a clean service area
- Monitor and restock cleaning and refreshment supplies
Minimum Requirements
- ABET Level 4 qualification
- Ability to read and write in English
- Good communication skills (English speaking and understanding)
- 1–2 years cleaning experience
- Ability to follow strict hygiene and safety procedures
