Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

Key Responsibilities

Road Workers will perform a variety of road maintenance and construction duties, including:

  • Carrying out routine road construction and maintenance.
  • Repairing potholes and sealing road cracks.
  • Resurfacing and re-gravelling roads.
  • Constructing and maintaining culverts, stormwater drainage systems, side drains, ditches, and concrete channels.
  • Cleaning roads, sidewalks, drainage structures, and road reserves.
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining road signs, road markings, delineators, and other road furniture.
  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of fencing, steel guardrails, gabions, and pipe-laying projects.
  • Operating hand tools, small machinery, and specialised equipment safely.
  • Protecting departmental equipment and reporting damaged or missing tools.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assisting with traffic accommodation and other road maintenance activities as directed by supervisors.
