About the Programme
The Citi South Africa Graduate Learnership Programme is a one-year, full-time internship designed to expose newly qualified graduates to the inner workings of the financial services industry. Graduates will gain practical skills, contribute to real projects, and have the chance to apply for permanent roles during the programme.
Additionally, selected interns will be sponsored to complete a postgraduate qualification that aligns with their work area.
What You’ll Be Doing
Graduates entering the programme will be involved in various aspects of Citi’s operations. One possible placement includes working in foreign exchange (FX) sales, where interns can expect to:
Market Analysis
Research global economic trends, central bank policy, and geopolitical developments that impact currency markets. You’ll learn how to evaluate exchange rates and interpret financial data.
Trade Execution
Assist with the execution of FX trades, helping ensure orders are processed efficiently and according to compliance standards.
Risk Management
Learn techniques for identifying and managing risks, including the use of stop-loss orders and hedging strategies.
Client Interaction
In some roles, you may support client relationships by sharing market insights and trade recommendations.
Strategy Development
Support the creation and testing of new trading strategies by analyzing data and collaborating with experienced team members.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all activity aligns with financial regulations, including AML policies and client suitability guidelines.
Ongoing Development
Stay informed on market trends and pursue further learning opportunities, certifications, and industry training.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Completed an undergraduate degree (GPA of 65% or higher) or a master’s degree in any discipline
- Up to 1 year of work experience (not required)
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities
