The Gauteng Department of Health is recruiting 60 Ward Assistants for contract positions at Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital. Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Ward Assistant vacancy, applicants must have:
- NQF Level 1 or 2 (ABET Level 4 Certificate or equivalent)
- No previous work experience required
- Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Physical fitness to perform manual duties
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines
Ward Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will perform the following duties:
- Deliver diet slips to the main kitchen
- Transport food trolleys between wards and the food service unit
- Serve meals and refreshments to patients under supervision
- Maintain cleanliness in ward kitchens and work areas
- Wash dishes and clean ward equipment
- Transport equipment to and from CSSD
- Receive, count, and store clean linen
- Sort, bag, and label dirty linen
- Handle medical waste according to health waste management policies
- Collect emergency stock and medication from stores and pharmacies
- Assist with general ward support services
- Rotate between wards when required
