About the Opportunity

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for a variety of entry-level government jobs. These opportunities are based in different regions of the country and are aimed at individuals with a Grade 12 / Matric certificate who are ready to begin their careers in the public sector.

Successful applicants will gain valuable work experience in administration, finance, supply chain, registry, and security support, with salaries starting at R228 321 per annum.

The following positions are currently open for applications:

1. Administration Clerk: Organisational Design & Job Evaluation

  • Location: Head Office (Pretoria)
  • Reference No: 2025/81
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of OD services is an advantage; computer literacy; organisational and communication skills.
  • Duties: Provide clerical support, manage correspondence, update databases, maintain filing systems, coordinate procurement, and handle routine enquiries.

2. Registry Clerk: Supply Chain Management

  • Location: Pretoria Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/82
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of records management, PAIA, NARSA, and EDRMS; computer literacy; interpersonal skills.
  • Duties: Receive and sort mail, manage courier services, control file movement, scanning, photocopying, franking machine operation, and assist with client enquiries.

3. Supply Chain Management Clerk

  • Location: Pretoria Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/83
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; computer literacy; administrative and organisational skills.
  • Duties: Draft correspondence, manage information flow, organise meetings, assist with procurement, handle invoices, and provide reception duties.

4. Administrative Clerk: Workshop

  • Location: Pretoria Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/84
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and general office administration.
  • Duties: Register and monitor job cards, follow up on outstanding issues, maintain records, and provide support to workshop operations.

5. Admin Clerk: Help Desk and Complaints

  • Location: Johannesburg Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/92
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of PFMA, Reapatala, Archibus, and Logis; communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Duties: Address and track complaints, update records, assist with procurement, maintain filing systems, and manage stationery and assets.

6. Senior Accounting Clerk: Finance (Batch Controller)

  • Location: Bloemfontein Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/85
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12 (Accounting as a subject is an advantage).
  • Duties: Manage financial documents, ensure compliance with accounting practices, monitor expenditure, assist with budgets, and generate reports.

7. Senior Registry Clerk

  • Location: Durban Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/86
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of the National Archives Act; computer literacy.
  • Duties: Manage registers, postal articles, filing, and amendments; maintain invoice records and support registry functions.

8. Senior Security Officer: Security Management

  • Location: Kimberley Regional Office

  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12 and Grade B PSIRA Certificate; driver’s licence; knowledge of security systems.
  • Duties: Oversee regional security operations, liaise with law enforcement agencies, conduct security awareness, and prepare reports.

9. Administrative Clerk: Movable Assets

  • Location: Kimberley Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/88
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, PPPFA; computer literacy.
  • Duties: Maintain the asset register, conduct inspections, manage stocktaking, investigate shortages, and prepare reports.

10. Administrative Clerk: Acquisition Management (SCM)

  • Location: Gqeberha Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/89
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12 (Commercial subjects an advantage); knowledge of PFMA and PPPFA; valid driver’s licence an advantage.
  • Duties: Source quotations, manage supplier database, process orders, compile reports, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.

11. Administration Clerk: Construction Project Management

  • Location: Gqeberha Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/90
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of WCS, PFMA, procurement processes, and computer literacy.
  • Duties: Provide clerical support, liaise with stakeholders, manage confidential information, process payments, and assist with travel logistics.

12. Registry Clerk: Provisioning and Logistics

  • Location: Cape Town Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/91
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of MISS, PAIA, NARSA, and records management.
  • Duties: Maintain filing systems, track files, manage sensitive records, process invoices on Reapatala, and update Archibus system.

13. SCM Clerk: Provisioning and Logistics

  • Location: Mmabatho Regional Office
  • Reference No: 2025/94
  • Salary: R228 321 per annum
  • Requirements: Grade 12; knowledge of procurement policies, Logis, BAS, and SCM principles; computer literacy.
  • Duties: Support requisition processes, generate orders, manage stock, process invoices, and assist with travel arrangements.
