About HWSETA Skills Development Programmes

The Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) empowers unemployed youth and sector employees by developing skilled professionals in health, social development, and veterinary sectors. Funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training, HWSETA offers learnerships, bursaries, internships, and skills programmes in fields like Nursing, Social Auxiliary Work, Veterinary Science, and Community Health Work, delivering world-class standards.

Programme Purpose

HWSETA’s programmes aim to implement the Sector Skills Plan, monitor education and training, and promote employment for disabled persons. By funding learnerships, bursaries, and internships, HWSETA supports the National Skills Development Strategy, forges stakeholder links, and ensures efficient use of public funds.

Application Process

Submit your application by early 2026 (typically March for bursaries, check HWSETA announcements) via email to info@hwseta.org.za or hand-deliver to 17 Bradford Road, Bedfordview, Johannesburg. Postal applications can be sent to Private Bag X15, Gardenview, 2047. Include a CV, certified copies of your ID, qualifications (Grade 12, diploma/degree, or acceptance letter for bursaries), and proof of residence (certified within the last 6 months). Specify the programme (e.g., Learnership: Nursing, Bursary: MBChB). Incomplete applications or late submissions will not be considered. For enquiries, contact info@hwseta.org.za or +27 11 607 6900. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 60–90 days of the closing date. Background checks (criminal record, citizenship, qualifications) will be conducted.
