Job Overview

Eskom is hiring an Artisan Electrical Lines and Servitudes professional to perform inspections, maintenance, defect repairs, and restoration of transmission lines. The role ensures reliable electricity supply and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Task Grade: T09

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct power line inspections and servitude maintenance under supervision
  • Perform hardware defect repairs and line fault investigations
  • Assist in emergency restoration operations during power line outages
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment safely
  • Ensure compliance with OHS policies and safety regulations
  • Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders

Technical Knowledge:

  • Electrical or mechanical engineering principles
  • Lines and servitude maintenance
  • Transmission network operations
  • ORHVS authorisation (Outcome 2)
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act
  • Vegetation management and line component identification
  • Level 3 maintenance competency

Practical Skills:

  • Ability to work at heights and in extreme weather conditions
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
  • Valid Code C1 driver’s license

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualification: Trade Certificate Electrical (Light/Heavy Current) – NQF4 with 120 credits
  • Experience: NTCSA network and discipline-related equipment (Lines and Servitudes)
