About Inseta Skills Development Programmes

The Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (Inseta) empowers unemployed youth and sector employees by growing scarce and critical skills in the insurance sector. Funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training, Inseta offers learnerships, bursaries, internships, and skills programmes in fields like Insurance Administration, Wealth Management, Short-Term Insurance, and Risk Management, supporting transformation and sector enhancement.

Programme Purpose

Inseta’s programmes aim to increase access to occupationally directed programmes, promote workplace-based skills development, and support sector cooperatives, small enterprises, and NGOs. By funding learnerships, bursaries, and internships, Inseta establishes career guidance channels and promotes a responsive public TVET system.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizen with a valid ID.

  • Unemployed or employed in the insurance sector (depending on programme).
  • No prior participation in the same Inseta programme.
  • Clear criminal record, verified via background checks.

  • Candidates from Employment Equity groups (e.g., Black, Coloured, Indian, women, persons with disabilities).
  • Residents of Gauteng, Western Cape, or KwaZulu-Natal.
  • Commitment to completing the programme and contributing to the sector.
