Job Summary
The Department of Health is hiring 67 Cleaners to join the Logistics Department at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. This is a full-time position offering hands-on experience in a hospital environment. Candidates will perform cleaning and hygiene duties to maintain a safe and sanitary facility for staff and patients.
Key Requirements
- ABET Level 2 certificate or Grade 9–11 equivalent
- No prior experience required (12+ months cleaning experience is an advantage)
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
- Skills: basic numeracy, literacy, communication, human relations, teamwork
- Ability to work under pressure, perform routine tasks, and liaise with stakeholders
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Physical fitness to perform manual labor while wearing protective clothing
Responsibilities
- Clean floors, walls, windows, doors, beds, lockers, and hospital steps
- Perform indoor and outdoor cleaning duties using provided equipment, including polishers
- Use cleaning chemicals safely according to procedure
- Assist supervisors with additional tasks as assigned
