The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) is inviting unemployed South African graduates to apply for the Statutory Control Internship Programme 2025. This internship is based in the Western Region, covering the Western and Northern Cape Provinces.

Internship Objective

The main goal of this programme is to give graduates hands-on exposure within SANRAL’s Statutory Control Department. This department is responsible for ensuring statutory compliance across the national road network. Interns will gain practical experience in business processes, legal frameworks, and the assessment of public applications.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Land Survey, Town and Regional Planning, or Paralegal qualification.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • Must not have previously participated in any internship programme.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Statutory Control Officer, interns will:

  • Assist with processing wayleave applications for services in the national road reserve (Section 48).
  • Assist with land subdivision applications (Section 49).
  • Support applications and approvals for outdoor advertising and the removal of illegal adverts (Section 50).
  • Assist with applications for tourism-related road signs.
  • Support reporting of claims related to damage on national roads.
  • Collaborate with project managers/route managers to gather inputs for applications.
  • Provide feedback on queries regarding national road legislation.
